5 minutes to Wat Plai Laem
A Buddhist temple on the resort island of Ko Samui, Thailand. Like the nearby Wat Phra Yai, or Big Buddha Temple, it is a modern temple created in recent times. Its main statue is not of Gautama Buddha but of Guanyin, the "goddess" of compassion and mercy. The statue is in Chinese style, with 18 arms, and though open-air located on a platform-pavilion surrounded by the temple lake. The temple's design, though modern, incorporates elements of Chinese and Thai traditions.
7 minutes to Big Buddha
Koh Samui’s beautiful coastline and renowned Big Buddha sculpture will be first thing you will notice as you approach the island from the air. This majestic 12-meter tall golden statue sits on an elevated platform, adorned with dragons and traditional decor that visually dominates the landscape. This beautiful structure was built in 1972 within the Phra Yai Temple complex, which is located on a small island located towards the northern border of Koh Samui.
10 minutes to Fisherman’s Village Plaza
The beautiful Fisherman’s Village features one of Koh Samui’s finest beaches. Lined with high-rise establishments and restaurants, the main Bophut beach boasts a modern and vibrant setting with stunning views. Fisherman’s Village is also known for its original Chinese-Thai culture. A number of historic and original wooden homes are found here, with some being built in the 19th and early 20th century by Chinese immigrants. Visitors can explore the beautiful old mansions and establishments and learn more about the history and culture of this area. The village also has a charming “walking street” that allows visitors to enjoy a traffic-free stroll through the area and visitors will find numerous eateries, coffee shops and entertainment zones adjoining the beach.
15 minutes to Aquapark Chaweng
Aquapark Chaweng is one of Thailand’s most exciting destinations and is located in the sea at Chaweng Beach. Located in front of Monkey Bay Beach Bar, the Aquapark is fascinating as it is thrilling. The child-friendly location will have you enjoying the best of both worlds: scenic views of the sea as well as water slides and rides. Monkey Bay itself is a key attraction at Chaweng Beach. Many visitors opt to take the kids along for fun water activities at the Aquapark as they head to Monkey Bay and grab a cocktail, watching from a distance and enjoying the cool sea breeze.
30 minutes to Silver Beach
The beach is set in an enchanting bay between Lamai Beach to the North East and the more popular bustling beach at Chaweng. It is a mid-point that offers spectacular views of Koh Samui coupled with the camaraderie of the Chaweng locals. The location of Silver Beach makes it ideal for numerous water activities. Snorkeling is quite popular at the beach and is, without a doubt, one of the most enthralling ways to experience sea life Kayaking is also a common activity, and visitors can hire kayaks from the beach resorts nearby. While water activities are an amazing way to spend time at this beach, caution must be exercised by swimmers. This is because the presence of large boulders built in the water pose a hazard especially for first-time visitors.
45 minutes to Tiger Zoo and Aquarium
The Koh Samui Tiger Zoo and Aquarium is one of the best family-friendly attractions on Koh Samui. Both the zoo and aquarium boast a marvellous collection of animals and tropical marine life. Bring your entire family to this amazing venue where you will all enjoy a fantastic day out. It’s advised to visit the Tiger Zoo early in the morning, but there are many shows which run throughout the day. As many shows are scheduled directly after one another, it is best to get in early and avoid the crowds. At the Tiger Zoo zone, you can get up close and personal with tiger cubs. Popular exhibits include the Asian Royal Bengal tigers, cheetahs and leopards.
50 minutes to Hin Lad Waterfall
In addition to its beaches, Koh Samui’s natural attractions include waterfalls, lakes and a marine Park. Hin Lad Waterfall is one of the most beautiful waterfalls found on the island and is located just south of Nathon. The stunning Hin Lad Waterfall is a gorgeous site, featuring a dense jungle path which spans 3km. Visitors mostly come here during the rainy season as the waterfall becomes larger and is at its best.
